Paul Kissinger had been physics, astronomy professor at DePauw

GREENCASTLE, Ind. -- Memorial services for Paul Bertram Kissinger, 72, Greencastle, retired DePauw University professor, will be at 3 p.m. May 23 in Gobin Memorial United Methodist Church, of which he was a member.

He died May 15.

He taught physics and astronomy at DePauw University from 1960 until his retirement in 2000.

Mr. Kissinger was planning to travel to Liberia, Africa, in August as part of the United Methodist Association of Science Teachers' Operation Classroom project to help meet the educational challenges in that nation.

He also was an accomplished oboist and barbershop quartet singer, a private pilot, an eclipse chaser, a world traveler and a photographer. Students chose him many times for teaching awards at DePauw University.

A 1952 graduate of Albright College, he received a master's degree from Northwestern University in 1954 and a doctorate from Rutgers University in 1961.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne VerBryck Kissinger; children Scott V. Kissinger, Lisa Kissinger Kaplan; four grandchildren.
